Emergency hurricane shelters in Louisianna and FEMA

September 5th, 2008 by Old Dude (0) Misc

It seems, from all the people bitching about staying in the shelters in Shreveport and other parts of LA, that they don’t appreciate the fact they had a safe place to stay. They were fed and given cots to sleep on.

It’s a tough situation but bitching because you have to go outside the shelter 50 feet to a portapotty seems a bit ludicrous to me. Instead of bitching they should have been damn glad to have had any place at all to go to the bathroom.

They also bitched about not being able to get showers. Just exactly how many showers do they think they’d have gotten if they’d stayed in their houses? Water systems are messed up and not working, electricity is out and lots of places are still flooded.

I watched other women bitch because the shelters were only handing out two pampers and 3 baby wipes at a time. She said, well, they have huindreds of boxes of pampers so they could give us more. Yeah, right, stock up on them to take them home with you. The reason they only give out two at a time is so they can be damn sure there are some for everyone.

The funny farm for emotionally or mentally disturbed

September 1st, 2008 by Old Dude (0) Misc

Why do we still keep insisting that crazy people need to be main streamed instead of put in the funny farm where they belong. Not only do they do damage to the community they mess up the gene pool by instinctively breeding and have more feeble brained children to end up in the streets.

The govt use to pay for this and I have to believe it was cheaper than it costs now. It’s cheaper and safer than putting them in jail when they do something stupid. The govt did a mass release, of what was mostly mentally and emotionally disturbed people, a few decades ago.

The govts reasoning was it was cheaper to have them on the streets and hope their relatives would take care of them than it was to house them in funny farms. Sheesh, flawed thinking there or “govt think”, if you will. The reason most of these people were in the funny farm was because their families couldn’t take care of them.

Yes, I know, “funny farm” isn’t politically correct. Neither is “nut house” but I don’t know what they are calling them nowadays. Perhaps sanctuaries for the mentally and emotionally incapable. Anyway, the govt decided they didn’t want to pay for people who weren’t truly insane so they released them all.

Send in the clowns - DNC and RNC clowns

August 28th, 2008 by Old Dude (0) Politics

I wonder why it is the DNC seems to remind me of the Ringling Bros circus? Some funny acts, some big animals and some dangerous animals. Even some people doing a high wire act. Howard Dean doesn’t seem to be much of a ringmaster tho.

What I do see is a lot of clowns doing a lot of silly crap. Isn’t that what you remember most when you go to the circus? All those clowns in the car with the lopsided wheels used to crack me up but when the clowns jump out of the car and run around no one gives them a podium and a microphone to say all kinds of silly crap.

OTOH the RNC is going to be more like Barnum and Bailey circus. When the DNC is done they will fold up their tents and the whole show will move to the Twin Cities and reopen. The only difference between the two is the clowns will be different.

They’ll still be doing the same crap tho. The clown car will come in and all the clowns will do the same thing they did when the circus was in Denver. Lol, you could say it’s the same clowns in different costumes.
